The Lakers Made History

Though the Los Angeles Lakers have not had much to cheer about this year, the team has managed to make history twice. The first was when Kobe Bryant, arguable the best player in the last 20 years, surpassed Michael Jordan, arguable the best ever to play basketball in points.

Then yesterday, the Lakers made history once again when the pair of Jeremy Lin and Jordan Clarkson, became the first ever Asian-American starting backcourt in the NBA.

“Proud to make history tonight with [Jordan Clarkson],” Lin wrote in a caption of a photo of him and Clarkson on his Instagram account. “First ever starting Asian-American backcourt in the NBA!! Proud of rook for that 30-piece too! #asianinvasion#halfasiancounts”

Since his Linsanity days with the New York Knicks, Jeremy Lin has lost some of his spark, though he is still a solid player and is a figure in the  Asian community, he is not in the same spot light he was in during the 2012 season. Though the Lakers ended up losing to the Oklahoma City Thunder, Clarkson scored a career-high 30 points and Lin scored 19 points. Each guard added seven assists.
