Terror in Kabul hotel by the Taliban

The death toll on an attack at a hotel in Kabul, Afghanistan rose to 14.  Among them were an American citizen, four Indian citizens, a citizen of Italy, and two people working for the British Council.  There was also six other people wounded in the attack but the identity of the victims have not been released.  These people gathered to attend a cultural event.

The Taliban often target places that are visited by foreigners.  In March 2014, they attacked the luxury Serena Hotel in Kabul.  The siege to take back the hotel lasted more than five hours.  More than 50 people were rescued but there is confusion over the exact number of armed assailants involved.
