18 injured and 9 killed when a tractor pulling a wagon full of people was hit by a train in India, Uttar Pradesh.  This occurred near the town of Bijnor at an unmanned level crossing.  The passengers of the wagon were returning from a Hindu temple.  There are thousands of unmanned crossings on Indian railways where hundreds of people are killed on them every year.

Safety on India’s state-run railway network has been an ongoing concern where there are many accidents every year.  Another incident on the Indian railway was last July where more than 15 children were killed when a school bus was hit by a train
